Review of PhonePower.com VOIP Service
We have been testing the VOIP phone service from PhonePower.com for about six months now. It replaced a land line at our home and saved us over $60 / month from our previous phone company. It’s a good deal for sure.
Here is our experience:
1. Sign up online was very easy.
2. We chose the residential 500 plan since we don’t make that much domestic calling. There is also an unlimited calling plan promotion going on where you pay $9.95 for the first three months with no long term contract.
3. Phonepower.com shipped us a router and advised us when the service would be activated and the porting of the number to be complete. (Don’t cancel your old service before you have confirmed that the # is ported over to your new provicer).
4. On the day of activation it was a matter of plugging in the router and connecting our old phone to it. It was true plug and play and it worked right away to our amaze.
5. We have contacted Phone Power twice over the phone and always got a knowledgeable representative on the phone without any long holdtimes. Very refreshing in this day and age.
How’s the call quality? Overall excellent. VOIP is getting better and better and we hardly reflect of any difference between the PhonePower.com and the old wired land line. On occasion there is an echo but nothing that would be annoying.
One of the best parts of the service is the excellent International rates. We call Europe a lot and the rates are really good. (UK is 1 cents a minute).
Sample of cheap international calling rates include
UK: 1 cents a minute
China: 1.7 cents a min
India: 5.9 cents a minute
Brazil (Rio): 1.6 cents a minute.
Bottom line: If you want a cheap home phone service but don’t want to pay land line rates PhonePower.com is an excellent choice.
