It’s a sign of the times. Wireless is changing the way we interact with technology devices in our homes. Do you remember the old days when you had phone jacks around your house?  And then the cordless phone showed up with multiple handsets that you could place anywhere you wanted?

Now AT&T U-Verse is letting you avoid using coaxial or Ethernet cables to connect your various televisions throughout the house.  They just launched a new product called the “U-verse Wireless Receiver”.  It’s made by Cisco.

The U-verse wireless receiver gives you a lot more options when deciding where to watch TV.   Arrange your furniture however you want since your TV is no longer tied to an outlet.  You can now watch TV in rooms that have not been wired for TV such as a kitchen or outdoors.   If you have a special event or a party you can also move your TV temporarily for the occasion.  Or maybe you have a house guest that is sleeping in your basement.   Simply take one of your U-Verse wireless receivers and plug it into a TV in the guest room and they’re good to go.

Great news for all Verizon FiOS HD customers!  The company has added two new channels to their FiOS TV lineup:  Nat Geo WILD HD and Investigation Discovery HD.

Nat Geo WILD HD, is a new cable network dedicated to extraordinary nature and wildlife programming, is available in all FiOS markets. Nat Geo WILD immerses viewers in the entertaining lives of nature’s creatures of land, sea and air.

Investigation Discovery HD is also available in all FiOS markets. The channel focuses on for real investigations focused on key issues that shape our culture, define civilization and examine the human condition.

This brings the total number of Verizon FiOS HD channels to 242.

AT&T U-verse announced that their mobile app is available in the iPhone app store as of August 9.  You can download and watch popular content and take
your U-verse content with you on the go. You need the U-verse 300 package or higher to use this mobile application.

With the iPhone app you get the ability to browse the U-verse TV program guide, view program descriptions, schedule and manage your DVR recordings.  You can also download available episodes over any Wi-Fi connection, and watch them in full-screen mode on your iPhone.
