It’s a sign of the times. Wireless is changing the way we interact with technology devices in our homes. Do you remember the old days when you had phone jacks around your house? And then the cordless phone showed up with multiple handsets that you could place anywhere you wanted?

Now AT&T U-Verse is letting you avoid using coaxial or Ethernet cables to connect your various televisions throughout the house. They just launched a new product called the “U-verse Wireless Receiver”. It’s made by Cisco.

The U-verse wireless receiver gives you a lot more options when deciding where to watch TV. Arrange your furniture however you want since your TV is no longer tied to an outlet. You can now watch TV in rooms that have not been wired for TV such as a kitchen or outdoors. If you have a special event or a party you can also move your TV temporarily for the occasion. Or maybe you have a house guest that is sleeping in your basement. Simply take one of your U-Verse wireless receivers and plug it into a TV in the guest room and they’re good to go.

But if you consider the expense of flying to Vegas, hotel room and tickets to the game $65 is not so bad. And if a couple of your friends stop by you can have them split the tab and chip in a bit for fight night.

AT&T is getting more and more creative with their bonuses. A new bonus started on Nov 14 for new AT&T High Speed Internet and AT&T U-Verse users:

Those who purchase new AT&T High Speed Internet or qualifying new U-verseSM TV plans will receive the Guitar Hero World Tour Complete Guitar Game , which includes the Guitar Hero World Tour console game and a new guitar controller. Currently you can only get this deal in AT&T retail stores or by calling AT&T. AT&T is also having a sweepstake where you can win gear for your whole band.

We personally prefer the online only offers for new U-Verse users but if you’re a huge Guitar Hero fan you might beg to differ.

It’s a new service called U-verse High Speed Internet Max 18 and will cost $65 a month as part of a bundle with AT&T U-Verse TV. AT&T says it has currently about 14.8 million broadband lines in service. It’s U-Verse Broadband service is available in more than 15 states.

AT&T’s Internet Protocol (IP)-based network provides customers who bundle U-verse services with advanced, integrated capabilities. For example, U-verse TV and Internet customers have the ability to program their digital video recorder (DVR) while away from home using a PC or wireless device; personalize AT&T U-bar to display customized weather, sports and stock information on their U-verse TV screen; and browse their online photos on a personal U-verse TV channel.
